3 Steps to be GOTH

Good evening, I'm TSUYU.

I always wonder why many Japanese GOTHIC(& GOTHIC & LOLITA) people think must buy & wear expensive fashion items to be that.
Magazines about that such as KERA! and Gothic&Lolita Bible introduce so expensive items.
Perhaps, many people having goth element all over the world guess wrong so.
However, I think that is wrong. Therefore I note about Step to be GOTH.

1, Enjoy as many WORKS as you can

"WORKS" contain art, literature, drama, movie, comic, cartoon, music...and so on.  Enjoy them, and learn about GOTH you think. It help you to find your own GOTHIC style.
GOTHIC works are not only in western cultures.  I think what are called "TANBI/耽美", "KAIKI/怪奇" and "RYOUKI/猟奇" belong to GOTH, so Japanese want to be GOTH should try the works by Edogawa Ranpo, Yumeno Kyusaku, Takahashi Yosuke, Kotaro Ogoshi and more.  
As for music, Japanese GOTH must listen to music except a visual kei band more.

2, Use your IMAGENATION

Daydream your ideal story.  Have your world view.
Vampires lurk in a crowd, and corpse have a stroll in the dark.
At school, the mad scientist take possession of laboratory to experiment.
It is better for you to write prose and draw your image in your mind.

3, DON'T HAVE TO buy expensive items

It depends on style you like.  If you like elegant style, you may have to buy expensive items.
However you can get many kinds of clothes at reasonable price.  Sometimes you are given used clothes.Ame and me like wear our mother's old clothes like what we need. 
If you have talent of sewing, you could make whatever you like(How I envy you!).




Having&growing your own GOTHIC HEART is what is being GOTH all about.
